The volunteer group in Gothenburg was founded in the spring of 2014. It has monthly meetings (evenings), and at these occasions volunteers are offered trainings, workshops and discussions on women’s rights, peace and security.
The volunteer group in Gothenburg represents Kvinna till Kvinna at Göteborg Book Fair, the Swedish Forum for Human Rights, West Pride and Feministiskt Forum. The volunteer group has also co-arranged the annual celebration of the International Women’s Day at the Museum of World Culture in Gothenburg.
The volunteers in Gothenburg visits schools with the role-playing game Peace for all and hold lectures, at their own events or at the requests of Kvinna till Kvinna.
Meet the volunteer Ingrid Siösteen Holmblad!
When did you first hear about Kvinna till Kvinna?
I heard about Kvinna till Kvinna early on during my education, and from other organisations that I volunteered for. It seemed like an organisation that corresponded with my own values and that dealed with massive problems in a very good way.
What does being a volunteer for Kvinna till Kvinna mean to you?
My commitment is a way for me to put my education in global studies – where we talk a lot about women’s rights and peace – into practice outside of school. To take part in the work of organisations like Kvinna till Kvinna gives me energy and inspiration for my studies.
What’s the best thing with your volunteer group?
That there are so many opportunities to come up with our own initiatives and organise things that we want to do!
